You need to tell me your age, how many degrees your curve measures, what kind of scoliosis you have (functional or structural), if you're seeing a scoliosis specialist, and what kind of treatment you are getting.

I'd also get a referral to a scoliosis specialist (if you're not seeing one already) who will examine you and make recommendations. If you're still growing and your curve is in the right range, a back brace may be recommended. Other things that could be recommended would be stretching/exercises, PT, pain management, and if your curve is bad enough, surgery.

Exercising will help keep your core muscles strong which can help reduce your back pain.

There are many kinds of pain meds. If one isn't doing it for you, talk to your doctor, tell him how you're taking the meds and how good/bad they're working. also mention what you're doing that brings on the pain. The doctor should be able to work with you to find a med or combination of meds that will do the job.

Health Question & Answer

i have a case of scoliosis in my lower back in my lower tailbone which is curving to the right, not noticeable to the eye, but i am always having so sit to the side otherwise i am in terrible pain.

like you my dr has said it's a small case and theres not much to do for it!! which sadly, is not helpful for us..it is so terribly painful... i as you can not walk for very long before i am in excruciating pain. my posture not that great either, because i am always sitting sideways and leaning fowars to not put any pressure on my tailbone (which is where i have the spinal curvage)

another dr has told me that this will affect me for the rest of my life..stting,walking, laying down,..it will always be painful, and as the years go by cause more artharitis..

i have tried physical therapy and it helps a little but when you are threw with p.t the pain just comes back worse..

i dont know if me replying to you is helpful..but i have gone to so many dr's and they all say the same "it's a small case, and theres not much we can do"
i have been dealing with this for years.. the only options provided to us are physical therapy for a short time and pain meds...either pills or some type of epidural that they administer pain meds in that last up to 8 or so months still with the asistance of pain pills..

i hope it gets better..,and if you have any advice..please let me know because i have gone through so many mri's and xrays..etc..that i'd love to know if theres anything else i can try.?
