Doctor says sprain, but I think differently?!

Question: Doctor says sprain, but I think differently.?
I went to get my ankle checked out, they said it was a sprain as there were no broken bones, but I'm not convinced. I have this shooting pain that comes whenever I move my foot a certain way, starting just above my ankle and ending about 8 inches up my leg.there is no swelling at all, and I have a slight limp from it when walking. the pain is almost nonexistent except when my foot angles in one direction. Anyone have any ideas other than a sprain.?Health Question & Answer

Sorry, but it sounds like a sprain to me. The fact that you can walk and can move your ankle suggests a lack of broken bones. From personal experience with 2 broken ankles I can tell you that you that if your ankle was broken you would know and not just think it could be. The fact that there is no swelling also suggests a more minor injury versus a break. When I broke my ankles they both swelled to the size of a large softball/small melon and had massive black/purple bruising all along the side of my foot, ankle, and going up my leg.

A sprain is the tearing of muscle tissue. Depending on how the muscle was torn can affect how you feel the pain.

After working in an orthopedic physical therapy office for so long I can't say it is really anything other than a sprain.Health Question & Answer
