best way to strengthen your wrist muscles and your grip would to buy a squeeze tension from a sport store. those babies get your grip soooo strong.

a little while ago i had one, and i used it everyday for at least 1-2 hours for a month. in classes while im writing things down i would be pumping it in my other hand. people would be like wtf. a month later i arm wrestled someone. i pretty much crushed their hand and they gave up and it was niiice :)


EDIT: ok i didnt even read the whole question. i bought a boxing bag a while ago aswell! and when i started out i was punching pretty hard like as you do, and sometimes when i punch it, i would hit the sides and my wrist would bend and it would KILL.

your problem is a TECHNIQUE problem, i think your going a little to crazy on the bag, and not using proper technique and thats going to hurt you. you need to tuck your elbows in, keeps your fists clenched properly, breath with every strike, keep your fists on your temples (side of head) and jab properly. i started boxing a while back and ever sinced i learned the proper technique i never hurt my wrists unless i go psycho on the bag :)Health Question & Answer

Take a gallon milk jug and fill it with sand, tie string to the handle of the jug, drill a hole big enough to fit the rope thru in a section of broom handle, feed the rope thru and tie a knot in it so that you can hold the handle at shoulder height and the jug will be on the floor.

Now, hold your hands out and roll the stick so that the rope rolls around it and lifts the jug off the floor. You can start with a smaller amount of sand if this is too difficult. Slowly roll the stick so that the jug goes back down to the floor and then roll the handle the other way.

This will strengthen your hands, wrists, forearms, biceps and shoulders. It will also increase your ability to grip things so you can make a tighter and more solid fist for punches.

also, if you sit in a chair and roll up the stick behind your head you can work on your triceps. You can occasionally do tricep kickups to concentrate the effect. You can modify the way you do it by making the stick wider and adjusting how far apart your place your hands. It's an all around arm workout. Be inventive with it.
