Tennis Elbow is either one of two things the real tennis elbow is when the lateral epicondyle (the pointy bone in the outside of your elbow) becomes inflamed and tender.....tennis elbow can also be often diagnosed when the the tendon on the inner part of your elbow is inflamed....if you have a true Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis) then it usually resolves in 6 months to a year....an anti-inflammatory will help, you need to ice at night about 20 minutes (soaking it in ice water is the best)....and you need to put as much heat as tolerable in the mournings before you being every day activity....thats about the only thing you can do..its a random inury...hope that helps!Health Question & Answer

Bursitis of the elbow is treated by the doctor very much like bursitis of the shoulder. If you're the rare person with tennis elbow who has severe persistent pain, the next step is to inject a pain reliever and corticosteroid (cortisone like drug) into the painful area. Three such injections is the limit. Surgery should be a last resort-an act of desperation. And good luck.Health Question & Answer

It will last a LONG time. I have had it for 8 months and still counting Yes, it is very painful. The physio will help, so will a steroid shot if you can stand to take it. They are painful also. I have it on the inside instead of the outside of the elbow. My Dr says that is rare but not unheard of. I get every rare thing coming and going and today I believe am getting the flu. Great, just what I need!!!!!!Health Question & Answer
