"Affordable" health-care?!

Question: "Affordable" health-care.?
I live in Canada, and I look at the USA's health care system and feel sick to my stomach, since when where people's lives and quality of life about being affordable.? I've been really interested in this presidential campaign, but why has there been absolutely no talk of a universal health-care system.? Is it just not of interest in the USA.? or how about instead of taxing the wealthier people more heavily as to reduce taxes for less hard working people taking that money and putting it into something that can benefit everyone.?Health Question & Answer

Health care in Canada sucks compared to the US system but unfortunately in the US a part of the population goes without it. Some can't afford it but many choose to spend their money on other THINGS and whine and ***** that healthcare is too expensive. In Canada the government has you all fooled. They force you to buy your health insurance without you even realizing it. They steeling your hard earned money with the 15% sales tax, (gotta love that GST), very high income tax (the third highest in the world) and spend it on so called health insurancee that is inadequate and the consumer has no say. If you are unhappy with your carrier (OHIP if you live in Ontario) well that is just too bad. I'm a health care worker who has worked on both sides of the border. My heart goes out to many of my family members living in Canada who need help but can't get it. Canadians don't realize how poor their care is because they have nothing to compare it to. For example the wait for an MRI's or joint replacement in the US is about 2 week. In Canada try 8 months to 1-2 years. How many people die waiting with life threating conditoins that go undiagnoses.? Who knows. The only good thing about the Canadian health care system is the philosophy of providing care for every one. I know my position is unpopular with Canadians (and my family members) but only those who have worked and lived on both sides of the border understand the reality of it all. The top 10% pay 90% of the taxes already. They are the employers. If you tax them more, they will find ways to make up the difference. Lay people off, pay lower wages, take bussiness overseas etc. You will have less tax revenue at the end of the day.
The whole thing is a very compicated problem. Health Question & Answer

How about if they want government supplied health care they join the military.? How about instead of doctors not paying back their student loans, we let them pay them down by working in community clinics until they are paid off. Why would anyone trust our government to do what is in our best interest when so many times they have proven they only do what is in their best interests.Health Question & Answer
