Have they sent you to Pain Management.? They have access to things like radio-frequency, cortisone injections and other things which can help. Oxycontin and Percocet is the same thing just a different name there really isn't anything stronger they can give you (atlest not tha tthe Army will allow you to take and stay in) . How much do they have you taking and how often.? Have they tried anything else like Hydrocodone (also known as Lortab) or Naprosyn.? There are a few others they can try that might work better for you. My DH suffers from back pain due to an injury and I can tell you that it's hard to get treatment while in the service in some locations. It's an ongoing battle that you will have to deal with. Referrals to off post doctors are your best bet to get good unbiased care based on what you need and not how some PA thinks. Ask to be referred to Pain Management if the location your at doesn't have one then they should be able to get you to a local doc that does it.

Edited to add: Quote from Stephanie: "Live in a military town and have seen lots of dummies get addicted to an almost limitless number of pain killers they've gotten through the Navy." End quote

How dare you...... You have NO clue what you're talking about. I cannot believe that you just called Military personnel (Navy specifically) who get addicted dummies...What an ignorant and disrespectful statement for you to make.....
You think they choose to get dependent on them.? Did it ever occur to you that it's not a choice that they make.? You obviously need to get some education on what causes addiction to prescription drugs and how it happens before making such ignorant and flat out disrespectful statements about our Military.Health Question & Answer

There are stronger pain medications than Oxycontin. Ask your doctor about Fentanyl or Hydromorphone (Dilaudid). The Fentanyl comes either through injection, a candy sucker, or patches. Dilaudid comes in injections and tablet form.Health Question & Answer

I don't know of anything stronger than what you are taking for pain, I'm sorry.

But I just wanted to answer to say thank you for your service for our country.

I'm so sorry for your pain and can't imagine having to deal with that. Lean on your friends and family and know that we are so grateful for what you've done for us.

You are already on some pretty serious pain medication. I don't think more pills are the answer.

You are absolutely correct that people get addicted to pain killers. It's particularly true for injured military, who often aren't getting the psychological care they need to cope with their injuries and long recovery. Depression is a physical stress on the body and you need to do everything you can to stay on top of it. You've got your whole life ahead and you carry the scars of amazing growth and sacrifice.

Stay strong, stay strong, stay strong!! One day, you will be sitting around the table with your grandchildren, telling them the story of how you survived such tragedy to protect our freedoms.Health Question & Answer
