I'm having some leg problems, can anyone help?!

Question: I'm having some leg problems, can anyone help.?
Since I had softball conditioning yesterday, my legs have been really bothering me. Until then, I had had no problems with pain or soreness; and we have been doing this for a few weeks now. But we did these things called "up downs", where we step up, up, down, down on our very tall stadium bleachers. My shins now hurt very, very badly.

And then, when I was sleeping last night I was awoken every few hours with charlie horses in my calves, and I still and getting them and have tightness in my calves when I am not.

What can I do.? I have to pitch this weekend for a tournament, and there is no way I can take the days off of softball, conditioning is a must and unless I am in deaths way I do not want to miss it. Or the tournament,
can I wrap it, ice it, or anything like that.?

And what do you think is wrong.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
By doing the up downs, you probably over extended your calf muscles. You can try using heat on them to loosen them up, especially when you are having the cramps. I would strongly suggest you do some stretches before you start each conditioning session. also, increase the amount of potassium in your diet. Eating bananas and oranges is a good way to increase this. Check out websites that list high potassium foods. You should also increase the amount of fluid intake.

I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer

I agree with Raksha. However, in addition to potassium, You should also be taking a Calcium and magnesium supplement. These are vital for the proper functioning of muscles.
