Why do my feet hurt to the point that I can barely walk when I wake up in the mornings?!

Question: Why do my feet hurt to the point that I can barely walk when I wake up in the mornings.?
I use to think it was because I wore high heels a lot so I stopped for almost a year and the problem is getting worse. I have gained a lot of weight. I weigh 180lbs and I am 5'10''. But I am only 28 and I've never had any health problems. Despite the weight I remain moderately active. I did wear flip flops a lot this summer. Could this be the cause.? Whatever it is has me waking like an old lady in the morning. I hope its not a sign of diabetes. Health Question & Answer

To answer this better you would have to tell me what part of your foot is hurting. Is it your arch, heel, or the ball of your foot.? If you wore flip flops you could have caused a stress fracture if you arch because of the lack of support flip flops give. Amazingly it is fairly easy to get a stress fracture in your foot from doing normal activities and it will only hurt in the morning because after you walk on it it will start to get numb. I recommend buying some good shoes and waiting a month or two to see if it gets better. Definitely steer away from unsupporting shoes like high heels and flip flops. Hope this helps and good luck.Health Question & Answer

What part of your foot.? I have a similar problem with pain in the top part of my foot, over where the arch is, though not EVERY morning, and I have always worn sensible shoes. In my case, it seems to be a touch of rheumatism or arthritis, possibly complicated by an old, untreated injury from a bicycle accident. I am somewhat overweight, too. Probably both of us could benefit by "taking a load off" our feet!

In any case, tell your doctor about it, just in case. I think it is unlikely to be a sign of diabetes, but diabetes is something you ought to be checked for, anyway, just in case, because it can be so serious if not treated.Health Question & Answer

Most shoes are bad for your feet (and the rest of your body).

Imagine a car with no shock absorbers -- welcome to the flip flop, lol.

I spent $250 on a pair of MBTs. I work in a physical therapy office, and the therapist has worn the same pair for four years (a.k.a. worth the money in the long run).

Byproducts of wearing these shoes: toner muscles (goodbye blubberbutt and thunderthighs, not kidding), better posture, less walking-related pain. I will NEVER wear normal shoes again -- excluding heels to clubs ;-)

Just make sure you're fitted before buying them. They should be tight like ice skates (ignore the salespeople, they don't know). The front of your big toe should actually touch the front of your shoe (without being forced to bend).

Sound like you.?Health Question & Answer

Plantar fasciitis can make your feet hurt when you get out of bed and walk in the morning, or when you walk after sitting down for long periods of time. I had it, but its gone now thank goodness. Check out this link.http://orthopedics.about.com/od/footankl...Health Question & Answer

You need to go to a good shoestore and get properly fitted. You probably need an extra wide width because you have gained weight.
The same thing happened to be. When I gained weight I needed the extra wide width.Health Question & Answer

Two problems come to mind. One is a heel spur and the other is plantar fasciitis. Have a look at this link. It might help you figure it out. In any case, something is wrong and you need to get it sorted out.Health Question & Answer

Talk to a doctor if the pain is sever.

I do know of people who have nerve damage and disorders of the feet.

Some nerve conditions are not fully understood. See a doctor.Health Question & Answer
