Is it unreasonable to expect a doctor to address all of a patients problems in one visit?!

Question: Is it unreasonable to expect a doctor to address all of a patients problems in one visit.?
I have more than a few concerns add my doctor (resident at university heath) always asks me what is bothering me most and lets work on that. Its usually 2 to 6 weeks away, then its a followup and not a new problem. Is it unreasonable to ask for everything to be addressed.? Sometimes these are real problems and I don't want to have to choose what I fix.Health Question & Answer

I am going to tell you what my hubby tells me all of the time!

Doctors work for us! It's so simple but sometimes we forget b/c of they way we are treated in their office. Tell the dr everything that is wrong with you, if he/she doesn't want to listen then ask if there is a dr available that actually has time to do their job. It is not fair for you to have to keep going back for each problem during the follow up of the last problem. You deserve to feel better, and to have all of your medical questions answered. I agree w/ the earlier writer, make a list before your visit and take it in with you.Health Question & Answer

My I suggest that when you call for an appointment that you request an hour appointment and then make a of list of all your medical concerns in order of their importance. Some patients have 5 or 6 major things wrong but the receptionist has only allowed for a 15 minute or 30 minute appointment until the doctor has to see the next patient. If the doctor took all the time that you need she/he would fall way behind in the schedule. If you have more than you think she could handle in an hour ask for an hour and a half. See how that works. =)Health Question & Answer

i think it is better to do it in all one go!
it will help you clear things up
and let it all out of your system

its like going to the doctors if you have a cold and you also get headaches!

you would tell them about both right!
so why not tell your type of doctor :)Health Question & Answer

depending on the problems, asking for more then one answer is not reasonable at all. If you have to tell him that these ____ things are bothering me equally, then tell them. If they are angry or dont answer your questions, then its time to get a new doc!Health Question & Answer

Yes it is possible to tell and you must tell so that he is left with the choice to prioritize.Unless he is aware of all then the selection of medicines may not be right.Hence subsequent visits are equally importantHealth Question & Answer
