Ease pain of pulled wisdom teeth?!

Question: Ease pain of pulled wisdom teeth.?
I just got my wisdom teeth pulled out around 8am (EST) this morning. Now that the novocain wore off, I am in excruciating pain. I took an ibuprofen that I got prescribed this morning for the pain but it isn't helping at all as I have taken it an hour ago and the pain is getting worse and worse. Does anyone know what I can do to stop the pain. I tried to sleep but couldn't. I tried orange sherbet which didn't help. I rinsed ice cold water in my mouth and again no luck. What can I do. How long will this go on since I got all 4 wisdom teeth pulled.? Health Question & Answer

People react differently to getting their wisdom teeth pulled. I don't know if ibuprofen is going to do the trick, my doctor prescribed me codeine. I had big packs of cotton padding in my mouth the first day to minimize bleeding and it helped a little with the pain.

If nothing helps at all and your pain continues to be excruciating, you may have dry sockets. In that case the doctor may have to wash out the extraction site and place medicated dressing into the socket.

Either way, I'd call the doctor and see if they want to examine the area where the teeth were removed or if they will give you a prescription for something stronger. Hope you feel better soon!Health Question & Answer

I have been to a similar experience.

I was suggested to eat ice cream a bit frequently and it really worked for me.

Some people also suggest to keep ice cubes in mouth .

Don't rinse water forcefully till the time the things are normal.

I had to take medicine for almost 15 days. It was very heavy dose and my stomach became lose within almost 4 days so I consulted my doctor and she amended prescription.

My pain was almost over within 15 days.

If you feel in any way that your medicine is not effecting properly or some side effects are being developed then consult your doctor immediately so that your medicines may be readjusted. Health Question & Answer
