Why don't all hospitals give lidocaine to a patient to make them comfortable before stabbing them with an IV?!

Question: Why don't all hospitals give lidocaine to a patient to make them comfortable before stabbing them with an IV.?
I've gone to a few hospitals and they do that automatically (the best ones that actually CARE about their patients comfort and well being.) A few I've had to ask for it. A few I've had to beg for it. The worst hospitals (Morton Plant and University Community hospitals in the Tampa Bay area,) you could do a backwards summresault, beg plead and kiss their feet and they just flat out refuse to do this to give the patient any comfort from such a painful procedure....WHAT'S UP WITH THAT.?.?.? Don't they care.? or is it a money they they don't want to spend to help their patients.? I don't get it.....
Tampa General and Pasco Hospitals do this automatically...it's SUCH a pleasure when I can find a Dr affiliated with these hospitals. I know that I won't have an anxiety attack knowing that I'll have to fight with someone and get all upset just to get a little pain relief.

Answers:
An IV.? I've had several. When I had my tonsils out 4 years ago i had one of those right after i had my tonsils out. I was on so much medicine i slept through it. No pain medicine was needed but then again, i was so druged-up from all that sleep stuff they gave me, i woke up when they were first putting it in, and slept for the rest. I felt a little pinch while i slept though. Nothing big.

Then about a week ago, I had to have one but for a different reason. I'm animic and they had to do some tests. No drugs were used. At all. Exsept i was smart enough to take some tylonal before going in their.

Maybe before you go to have an IV ,and doubt they'll use pain reliver on you, you could use some pain reliver yourself before getting there. Go to a Kinney's or a Walgreens. Get tylonal, and some numbing loshion. Put on the numbing loshion while your in the waitroom. take tylonal also. It wiill make it much more painless for you.:]

Hope this helped! And good luck!:D
