Should my finger still be numb?!

Question: Should my finger still be numb.?
I went to urgent care 5 days ago and had a deep splinter removed from under my nail. The doc used a long and short term local anesthetic (he called it a nerve block) and injected it at the base of my middle finger (it HURT!). Everything is healing well, but the tip of my finger is still numb. The doc said it can sometimes take 48 hours for it to wear off, but it has been almost a week. What should I do.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Call your primary doctors office and ask to speak with a nurse or even you doc. you'll get help from there. if you don't have a primary doc call the ER and ask to speak with a triage nurse. Health Question & Answer

You should probably just cut it off. Then, if you're half way through sawing it off and you feel something, go to the hospital because you made a mistake.
