It's Lortab, and it is a prescription drug commonly abused. If you watch the show House M.D., the main character is addicted to Vicodin. Vicodin contains the same chemical as Lortab does, which is hydrocodone.
Hydrocodone is a painkiller for moderate to severe pain and is prescribed by doctors. If you take it and it isn't prescribed to you, in the right amounts it will produce euphoric effects (it will make you feel good) and a profound feeling of warmth and comfort. That is because this is from the same class of drug as heroin. It is not nearly as addictive or as powerful as heroin is though, it's like comparing a beer to a half liter of vodka.
No matter what advice you are going to get here, you and/or your friend will probably end up doing this anyway, so I will give you straight facts in order to reduce the amount of possible harm. All drugs can be dangerous if used improperly.
Hydrocodone should be taken orally (just like any other pill you would take) and you should feel effects after 20-30 minutes on an empty stomach, an hour or two on a full one. It should feel as if you're wrapped in a warm blanket and nothing bothers you. It feels very pleasurable and you are able to relate to other people easily, there is no anxiety or tension in anything.
You HAVE to make sure of the amount of each substance in the Lortab pill. It contains acetaminophen as well as hydrocodone. Acetaminophen is tylenol. Taking too much Tylenol can make you sick, damage your liver, and possibly kill you. It's strongly advised that you do not use more than 4000mg of Tylenol, which would be 8 pills of Lortab 10.
If you do not know how much acetaminophen is in it, just assume 500-750mg. Do not go over 4000mg.
