Scar Tissue with Torn Meniscus?!

Question: Scar Tissue with Torn Meniscus.?
I have a torn medial meniscus on my right knee. I am currently on a waiting list for surgery but that's taking awhile. What I would like to know if I can do any damage to any tissue there, or any further damage to anything in my knee with repeated use of the knee in Martial Arts (Is how i hurt myself in the first place). The doc said that I can't make it any worse, but that doesn't really answer the question. I know that some athletes have alot of scar tissues in injuries if they keep playing without surgery, etc. So I'd appreciate any feedback on what can happen if I continue doing martial arts until surgery (which might be 6-8 months wait). Thank you.Health Question & Answer

When your Dr. said you can't make it(the meniscus)worse he probably meant since it was already torn. You can make it worse if it is a small tear you risk making it a very large tear and a more extensive surgery. The knee is weak and is open to further damage. You should have been given instructions on what is acceptable activity and exercise. I have had two knee surgeries one minor one leading to a very major one because of not following the Dr's instructions. Call your Dr. and ask more questions about your care until the surgery and good luck. Please do the therapy after surgery-it makes all the difference in the world.Health Question & Answer
