My foot is asleep right now, and I hate this feeling. I need to know what causes it, and what's the best way to wake it up. Health Question & Answer

It could be that you are cutting off the circulation. If it is your foot, rotate your ankle and try walking on it. If it is your hand, shake it and flex your fingers.Health Question & Answer

Nerve compression causes cut of the feeling on your foot.
If it's something that happens a lot maybe you want to check w your PCP to determine the cause.
If it's your hand that falls asleep usually is the same reason, nerve compression on your wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome) caused or worsened by repetitive motion.
Only a doctor will be able to tell for sure what causes your problem and the best way to combat it.

Usually it is caused by poor circulation. Maybe caused by being in a weird position too long, putting too much weight on a joint, leg or arm bent backwards, could also indicate nerve damage if consistant in a certain location , if this is the case seek medical attention and advise.Health Question & Answer

i agree that i could be you are cutting off circulation (such as if you were lying on it for a long period of time) or if you dont move it for a long period of time, which also slows the blood circulationHealth Question & Answer
