Question: What 'technically' causes your foot to go to sleep.?
my daughter who is eight tells me at least once a day that her foot is asleep. should i be worried or have her seen by a doctor.? i don't think it the position she is in. so what could be causing this.? please and thank you.Health Question & Answer

Cutting off circulation decreases blood flow to the limbs. She may be sitting up properly but keeping her knees bent for a period of time can cause this. I wouldn't make a special appointment just for this but next routine visit mention it to her doctor.Health Question & Answer
She may be sitting in such a position that blood flow is restricted to that foot. Maybe the blood vessel happens to lie near a pressure point when she sits. Try having her sit on a softer chair, one with a cushion. Or, maybe she is sitting too long in one position. Then just have her get up and walk around every so often to change position and to restore the blood flow.Health Question & Answer
