Should "Swim Ear" Ear Drying Aid case a burning sensation?!

Question: Should "Swim Ear" Ear Drying Aid case a burning sensation.?
After recently getting over a pretty severe ear infection, my doctor suggested that I try "Swim Ear" after I shower, swim, or wash my hair. It seems to work fine in drying all of the excess moisture that gets into my ear, but it causes a minor burning sensation.
The active ingredient is Isopropyl Alcohol. Is this burning normal.?
If not, what should I use instead.? I've heard of using rubbing alcohol, but that is also isopropyl alcohol.Health Question & Answer

Yes - alcohol causes a burning sensation. When i was on a swim team we used rubbing alcohol and a medicine dropper - the same thing you are doing. Swim ear has nothing special in it. I don't think there is any alternative form of alcohol that works better, but to reduce the burning sensation, some people mix white vinegar with the alcohol, or use white vinegar alone. The most important thing is to treat only one ear at a time so you can tip your head to the side and pull on your ear lobe to make the drops drain back out. Health Question & Answer

Dear if your ear infection is cleared up,you don't need to keep dumping things in your ear, for showering just put some cotton balls in your ears ,put a little baby oil on it, if you are swimming use ear plugs. also if you feel water in there use a blow dryer, on low setting of course.Health Question & Answer

I've had to deal with swimmer's ear with my boys and half vinegar half alcohol from a dropper is just as good as the store bought "swim ear". they never complained of burning from it though. The dr. told us not to put cotton balls in the ears. Health Question & Answer
