Did I re-tear my ACL?!
Question: Did I re-tear my ACL.?
I had ACL reconstruction surgery about 13-14 weeks. My doctor said I could start lifting weights 2 weeks ago. He said I could do everything like I normally did before surgery, except max out. The other day I tried squatting and I did a set of ten. I think it was more weight than I should have been doing. After that, my knee started hurting. Ever since it hurts when I try to straighten it. Before I could straighten it very easily, but not it hurt. If i walk for a little bit it feels better, but if I sit, stand up and straighten it, it hurts. My dad says it could just be swelling because I think I was doing too much weight.Health Question & Answer

Did you hear any kind of pop.? Does your knee feel unstable at all. I would say the odds are that you didn't retear it from lifting. Your knee really hasn't been through that extreme of physical activity for a long time. That along with a surgery are going to have long lasting effects on how your knee handles different activities. I wouldn't be surprised if your knee swells up and hurts most times when you're putting that much pressure and weight on it. They say 6 months is a minimum for complete recovery. I'd use that as somewhat of a guideline as to when you can expect to see these type of flare ups starting to decrease.Health Question & Answer
