Broken collarbone... am I being a baby?!

Question: Broken collarbone... am I being a baby.?
Only for people who have broken their collarbone before, or know someone close who has:

I broke my collarbone yesterday during soccer, and I got a figure-8 brace today to help it heal.
It really hurts when I straighten up like I'm supposed to, even though I am on pain medication (Vicodin).

Am I being a baby or does a clavicle fracture normally hurt this much.? I'm not crying or anything, but its really uncomfortable and huuuuurts.

(fyi, I'm a 15 year old girl...)
Here's a picture of the brace/splint I have to wear:

Yes, I had to wear that stupid thing too. Yes, it hurt, so I didn't get my shoulders pulled back as much as they should have, so my collar bone overlapped and healed that way. It sticks out and looks kinda gross. The harness also chaffed under my arms and that was more annoying, but still painful.
I first broke my collar bone when I was about 5 or 6 when my brother pulled down a cypress tree and told be to get on -- we were playing catapult. At that age I was dumb enough to try anything. When he let go I went straight down and broke the bone.
The second time was more recent, probably about 10 years ago. I just bought a mountain bike and thought I'd take it out in the hills near our house. I wanted to go down this hill to pick up a trail. It was steep and I hit a bump and went over the handlebars and landed on my shoulder.
The last time was about a year and a half ago. I had a motorcycle accident and got knocked out, so I don't remember much of anything. When I came to, I was in the hospital and could feel the familiar pain in my collar bone -- not again!Health Question & Answer

I broke my collarbone when i was 13 playing lacrosse and it does hurt a lot. I didn't where a figure 8 brace, i just wore a sling. Now i have no shoulder slouch problems. It will hurt a lot but the pain will go away after about a week or too if it is rested properly. BTW, it took me only 6 weeks to heal even though the doctors said it would take 12 weeks.Health Question & Answer

Yes, it is very painful. I had a broken collarbone when I was 19 and my son broke his collarbone when he was 13. We're both hockey players and used to pain, but it does hurt because you have a lot of nerves in the area. You're not being a baby. The pain will subside, but be patient and let your collarbone fully heal.

I hope you feel better soon!Health Question & Answer

I broke my collarbone when I was eighteen, and yes it hurts. The brace is supposed to do the work, so let it. Don't try to straighten your shoulders...let the brace do its work, and yes, take your pain meds.Health Question & Answer

My mum broker her collarbone when she got hit by a car while crossing the road..She was in ALOT of pain from the collarbone and she couldnt use her arm for weeks. But after a few weeks she started doing minor things and exercised her arm to keep it from getting stiff. So just hang in there, it will get better and collar bones are one of the spots on the body that heal relatively faster than other places in the body. I dont think ur being a baby, jst take the opportunity to do some chill out stuff.
Be glad that it wasnt bad enough to need an operation on it.
Hope u heal soon!Health Question & Answer
