A rather embarassing question regarding bowel movements...?!

Question: A rather embarassing question regarding bowel movements....?
I know of a lot of women who have trouble with keeping themselves regular, my friends & family members who are female have all complained at one point or another that they just don't go enough. I've always been one of them, but lately it's gotten even worse. I'm at the point where I only have about one...movement (I'm trying to word it in a way that won't make me giggle lol) a week, and it's not even a regular one, it just doesn't seem like enough. I did a colon cleanser last month, and it helped evacuate everything in a space of about 3 days, then it was right back to once a week if I'm lucky. I've noticed that I've gained about 7 or 8 pounds from my normal weight, and I constantly feel like I have to go but just can't. I don't want to have to take laxatives or cleansers on a regular basis, what are some other ways to help this problem.? Has anyone else had this issue.?

I was also wondering (and very concerned) if it's possible to somehow poison your body.? I mean, if every meal I eat is just building up in my digestive tract and staying there, is it possible that toxins are leaking through the intestine walls or am I being paranoid.? I figure that it's substance that needs to be evacuated for a reason, how unhealthy is it for it to stay in your body.?

P.S. I know that I probably should see a doctor about this, but I hate doctors and they're so expensive. If it gets to a point where I'm in pain I will end up seeing one eventually, but I wanted some input from other people first.Health Question & Answer

The routine answer, and the one that is generally correct, is to add more fiber to your diet. You can start using Metamucil or any knock-off of Metamucil, but what you want is not in Citrucel. You want what Metumucil has; it's psyllium. Take with plenty of water, and take it up to three times a day.

You can also eat a high-fiber cereal for breakfast. Check the fiber content on the box, and get the one with the highest. After adding your milk, eat the cereal right away. If you wait, it turns into something resembling lumpy cardboard, but it's almost like Grape Nuts if you eat it sooner rather than later. I think I use All-Bran (the seed type, not the string type).

Adequate hydration will help. You have to hydrate well with the Metamucil or else you could send your system into a darker place.

Colonics are not the answer. I know they are a huge seller and have lots of fans, but our system can deal with everything that's there without these harsh interventions, which can actually cause more of what you are trying to avoid (constipation).

Once a day is a great goal. You want to keep that system moving so you don't develop diverticulitis, which my husband developed, but he was prone to it. No, the matter is not poisoning you, but a successful daily result is a great goal. If you can achieve that, you will be doing well.

Again, go for the Metamucil and use the powder, not the wafers or tablets. My doctor said that we don't hydrate enough if we use the wafers or the tablets.

You can always add apples - lots of fruit helps except bananas. But get your Metamucil and bran breakfast every day; use the fruits as add-ons, not the source for your daily quota of fiber.

Your goal is at least 35 grams of fiber a day.

Godspeed to a quick resolution. Note that Metamucil may take up to three days to work. Hot coffee can help. Extra hydration can help.Health Question & Answer

Try drinking prune juice. Or sit down and think of foods that usually triigger your body to go. If this doesn't work, then take a laxative. Your body will not poison itself...your body will release the food one way or another. Are you nauseated at all...bc sometimes with constipation, you get nauseated bc your body needs another way to expell the food.Health Question & Answer

Go to GNC, and and the clerk for psyllium husk pills. and you take them 3 times a day. these pills are not bad for you, all they are is fiber. so you dont have to go eating bran muffins all day. I dont have a problems pooping, but i took these just b/c a high fiber diet is very healthy.Health Question & Answer

Add more fiber and liquid to your diet. People who don't drink enough can get constipated. Try eating or drinking fruit juice or prune juice. If that doesn't do it see the Dr.Health Question & Answer

Drink lots of water, eat high fiber foods and exercise.Health Question & Answer

brown rice! makes you go regularly. it goes well with almost everything and tastes really good! also, its the perfect carb source because it'll make you feel fuller for longer than other carbs, for a lesser amount of calories. or, you could try oatmeal every breakfast.

also wouldnt hurt to go natural..fruits and vegetables that are rich in fiber are a natural source of laxatives. a fiber-rich diet is the answer, because unhealthy build up of toxins in the digestive tract can actually poison your blood..and cause zits! Health Question & Answer

Binging on prunes, oranges or mandarins for a few days will help but for a permanent solution youi need more fiber and that means more fruit and vegetables as well as bread, cereals, pasta or rice.

The worst food for clogging you up is red meat. Most people eat too much meat. More bread and less meat would be much better. Eggs don't help either but they are not quite as bad as meat. Red meat can cause colon cancer so you are better off without it. Poultry is better than red meat and fish is better than poultry.Health Question & Answer

Elvis was like you! It's what killed him! He had to poop all the time, and like to MAKE himself pinch a loaf even if he didn't feel-the-need. He pushed a little too hard and blew a gasket the day he died. You can try a higher-fiber diet.

How do you do this.? Eat more fruits. Grapes are delicious. Cranberries are delicious. Since it's not summer anymore, you're going to have a more difficult time finding citrus. Just change your eating habits to include more fruit and you'll be fine.Health Question & Answer
