How to get rid of aches in the neck and back? stress bubbles?!

Question: How to get rid of aches in the neck and back.? stress bubbles.?
I don't know why, but I think it's the way I sleep. Every morning my back and neck aches. Parts of my neck are like tender and when i put pressure on it to massage it, it hurts. My back also hurt like the upper part near my neck. This is also bad because I sing in a choir and we do breathing exercises and when I take very deep breaths I get stingy pains in my neck so it's really hard for me to get through it. What can I do to fix this. Something that does not involve going to the doctor please...Thank you!

Oh and what are stress bubbles. My friend was massaging me and she said I have stress bubbles. if so how do I fix this.?Health Question & Answer

:o) Stress bubbles... I like that... She's probably referring to fibrotic adhesions of the muscles - more commonly referred to as knots. They feel like thick cords of strings, you actually strum these and they feel very tender.

Posture and the way you sleep might be affecting your neck and back.

Do you sleep on your stomach.? If you do, that's a big no-no.
Sleeping on your back is the best way to sleep. Try using a rolled up towel to support just your neck. The base of your skull should rest on the bed. This helps return your neck to a more neutral position (putting the natural curve back in your neck. Most people lose this since we're always looking forward and down). This'll also help relax the shoulders. Keep in mind, you're retraining your body, so this won't be too comfortable the first couple days you do this. So try to do this maybe 5-10 minutes while your laying down and switch back to your old pillow. When you wake up in the morning, do the neck roll again for the same time.

If your more comfortable on your side, use a body pillow to help support you, especially your hips to avoid twisting.

consciously stretch your neck out throught out the day. Make sure you breath as you stretch. Yoga has some great neck and back stretching poses- my favorite for the back is the happy baby. this feels like a spinal massage.

There's so many self remedies out there, do your research and find which one's right for you. As a massage therapist though, of course I have to say, get a massage.
