Aaahhh, the crackles. This is not unusual. In some cases, this is good since your neck can adjust itself. I wouldn't do it too much though or force it. Stretch your neck out from left to right, up and down. Roll your head around - it's okay if you feel it cracking when you do this. Take a few minutes throughout the day to rest your neck and shoulders by laying on a neck roll- roll up a towel so it supports just your neck. The base of your skull should rest on the bed or whatever your laying on. This'll help relax the muscles in the neck and shoulders. But most of all, check your posture. Make sure your head is in the same line as your shoulders. Most people hold their head forward and this creates too much pressure on the neck (think of how little your neck is and how it's holding up your head which weighs approx. 10 pounds). When your body is aligned then it works better!

I don't think neck cracking is too bad. Just don't do it a lot - I don't think it'll lead to arthritis but it does make your ligaments loose (but you don't have to worry about that for a while :o)Health Question & Answer

I crack my neck all the time. It's not the healthiest thing to do but the endorphins that are released is totally worth it. I've been to see several doctors and chiropractors, who all have varying opinions. Some believe it will lead to arthritis and some say it's fine.
My advice: get a massage and do neck stretches.

P.S. There's nothing wrong with you!Health Question & Answer
