I've had fingernails fall off, but DON'T pull it off. The reason that it is lose and still slightly attached, if your lucky, is because a new one is growing under it. If you were to take off what is still there would be opening a wound. If you wait for it to fall off then it is likely going to be replaced by a new nail, which means the wound is never open. Might want to have a band-aid over it once the nail comes off, but that's because the new nail is kinda thin. It's strong as it is still a fingernail, but not much there so it would still be a little weaker then a fingernail.Health Question & Answer

Don't pull it off. Even if it's only slightly attached you should wait for it to fall off on it's own. Pulling it off will cause you to injure yourself more, and it will really hurt. The nail is still covering the nail bed, which is a highly sensitive area, and you want to keep it there for as long as possible.

Keep the nail trimmed short and soak your finger in hot salt water daily. It will soften the nail and make it come off more easily, if it is going to come off at all. Health Question & Answer

First thought; OH SNAP!
Second thought, DO NOT pull it off. I recommend seeing a doctor about this. I can't advise you any further.Health Question & Answer
