Fainted at school... just questions..?!

Question: Fainted at school... just questions...?
In biology, we were disecting a pigs heart.
It was the inside of the heart, that made me feels really really ill.
But then, my vision went,
and the next thing I know.
Im in A & E, having check ups, ive broke my arm.
But the doctors reckon it might be a fainting disorder,
As I am fainting fairly regularly..
Just wondering what you thought..
I know it seems pathetic, but I dont think it was the blood I fainted over, because i could touch the heart etc..
Any thoughts on if this could be a fainting disorder..?
As I am a very stressful person, I worry for exams etc, and I was very very hot when I fainted..

Answers much appriciated.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
i used to faint a lot at school, not really due to worry or anything, normally when i was doing thinks like science lessons, or i got too hot, i started to get used 2 knowing when it was going to happen, and carried a mars bar to boost my blood sugar levels, a bottle of water, and made sure i sat down. I guess i grew out of it, probably not what you want to hear, but if the hospital couldn't find anything, it could just be hormones etc. I haven't fainted since i left school, 2 and half years ago... cos i know when i start feeling funny, and get myself away, into the fresh air etc. make sure you're eating regularly and carry things like a mars bar and a bottle of water.? hope this helps xHealth Question & Answer

Well, I mean, it depends on what you usually faint at. I'm assuming it's things that make you nervous or disgusted, so I think if you have fainting disorder or whatever, the root of it is probably anxiousness, which my sister has. She's fainted before as well, just because something might overwhelm her, but only a few times. She's been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, which makes me think that that's probably what you have.
Like, BECAUSE something worries you so much is why you're fainting, as opposed to just having a random tendency to faint.

Keep in mind that I don't know much about fainting and disorders, I'm just associating what you said with something in my own life -- my sister.Health Question & Answer

If you're fainting fairly regularly, then yes I would agree with the doctors that it's probably a fainting disorder.
Fainting can be caused by a lot of things, such as changes in heart rhythm, structural problems with the heart, orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure upon standing), anemia, dehydration, an electrolyte imbalance, and certain medications.
You're probably having tests run, and the doctors will determine what's causing your frequent fainting. Once they figure that out they will be able to treat it. No worries. I had a fainting problem recently, it was because of a medication. Changed the dosage and I haven't fainted since.Health Question & Answer

The most likely thing that occurred was what is called vaso-vagal syncope. Certain stressful episodes in susceptible persons trigger an overstimulation of parasympathetic impulses via the vagus nerve that cause a slowing of the heart rate and decrease in blood pressure with resultant temporary decrease in blood and oxygen to the brain. Thus you faint. While recumbent, blood once again starts flowing to your brain and you regain consciousness.

Depending on a careful exam your doctor may elect to reassure you that you are fine, or s/he may elect to do an extensive work up.Health Question & Answer

I used to faint all the time when I got nervous. I too would feel hot and loose vision. I knew when I was going to faint because I would feel it coming on. I had extensive testing to see what was going on. I had an EEG, tilt table test, cat scan etc.. After all of this they told me it was Vasovagal Syncope. This is the central nerve system in your body. Maybe read up on it. Oh and I also fainted in school ( embarrassing).Health Question & Answer

I'm no doctor, but I used to have problems fainting when I was about 14, and it was due to low iron in my diet.
I got some vitamin pills to take with my breakfast everyday and now I'm fine!
It could just be something simple like that :)Health Question & Answer
