Help! What do I do? My finger was cut when I was cutting my food.?!

Question: Help! What do I do.? My finger was cut when I was cutting my food..?
I'm only 14, so I need a little help here. I'm alone, and no one will be home for like a half hour. Anyways, while I was cutting my apple in the kitchen, my phone startled me since it was on vibrate on the counter and it started to ring. When it startled me, the knife I was using slipped and cut my thumb. I've applied pressure on it now for about 10 minutes, and it still hasn't stopped bleeding. By the way, the cut is about a 1/2 inch long, and I don't know how deep it is. I don't know if that matters much, but I just thought I should add that. I'm freaking out now. What should I do.?Health Question & Answer

Wrap it with something clean, and hold pressure on it. Sit down somewhere, and keep it elevated above your heart. I recommend watching some tv or something, which will help keep your mind off it, which should slow your heart rate down, decreasing the bleeding. Show your parents when they get home so they can determine if you need stitches or not. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

First off calm down. Next take a clean towel and wrap your finger and apply steady pressure and raise your hand above the level of your heart this will help stop the bleeding. If you can get a hold of your parents and explain to them what happened. If the towel is getting soaked with blood and you can't stop it you should call 911.Health Question & Answer

well put a wet paper towel on it and clean the wound first. then hold a paper towel or a regular hand towel against it. and go to a neighbors house if its that bad. Call your parents and tell them what happened. calm down. it happens all the time. Anyways, you probably havent applied enough pressure. Good luck! Health Question & Answer

Calm down and keep a paper towel around the finger. Just wait for it to slow down, and put a big band aid on it. Don't worry, it will heal up soon.Health Question & Answer

You need to wash it out first. Call your parents/guardians and tell them about what happend.Health Question & Answer

I did this to myself accidently when I was really young and carving a pumpkin unsupervised. I used a guass pad and wrapped that around my finger for a while. I was fine eventually. If you don't have guass pads, get some band-aids and some paper towels and tape them around your thumb to apply pressure and absorb the blood. Don't use any antibiotic ointment, they're NOT for deep wounds.

1/2" is big enough to get stitches, so if you want you can ask your parents when they get home to take you to a doctor.Health Question & Answer
