Does this sound broken?!

Question: Does this sound broken.?
Mmkay, I've never broken a bone before, so how can you tell if you've broken your finger.?
Mine's a bit swollen near the joint (First one after the knuckle), a little purple, and it hurts when I try to bend and straighten it. The thing is, it's the bone that hurts. Not the muscle or anything.
Is it broken, or just sprained or something.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
With out x-rays it is impossible to tell .
it may be just a deep bruise but again x-rays will give you answers . If you feel it is broken a trip to your PCP is in order
for now you can splint and RICE the finger
Rest (do not use your hand or finger if possible )
Ice 30 on 30 off
Compression (will be given with the splint)
Elevation lay hand on a pillow to rest itHealth Question & Answer

So far, it sounds broken...fingers are the easiest to break....as the person above me has said...if you bend your finger and it doesn't hurt a lot then it is probably swollen but if it is...its def broken....try not to move the finger for a while (wk) and if it is still like that...its brokenHealth Question & Answer

it probly is brocken so go to the doctors and have them look at it. they will probly take an X-ray and then you can find out from there. If you think it isn't broken, put ice on it every 2 hours for 20 minutes and take an ivprofen ever 4 hours.Health Question & Answer

well if you are sure its the bone that hurts, it is probably broken, however, if you can bend it and you're not in excruciating pain than it is prob not broken but just sprained. If it is very swollen and purple, chances are its broken.Health Question & Answer
