2 days ago my lower back started feeling extremely painful and i could not stand up straight...i called my primary care doctor and she told me to go to the emergancy room...the er doctor gave me 6 darvacets and a prescription for 30 skelaxin...i woke up this morning and my back was so painful and it felt like my back was "seized" up...any slight movement was hell...it took me two hours to get up off of the floor...my legs are numb...now i can't walk or stand at all...i have to roll around slowly in my computer chair...i can't even deficate...it hurts too much to push...then of course after i try it takes me about 45 minutes to get off the toilet...i don't know what to do...i can't walk to get to my car so that i can get to the hospital...i hate to call an ambulance...will i have to call an ambulance if this continues.?...thanks in advance for any advice...brianHealth Question & Answer

Get to the ER now and tell them you want to be seen by someone who will treat you. You have signs similar to those who need surgery. So you need a neuro surgeon or an orthopedist that specializes in backs. Treat this right now and you can get out of it without a chronic problem I can't believe your primary hasn't put you in the hospital. Numb is not okay! Did the ER tell you to go back if the pain got worse.? If so, and the pain is worse, then call 911. Don't try to drive like that.
Are you taking the Skelaxin that they prescribed.? What was the follow-up procedure they advised.? Whatever it was, follow it.
Hun, if the pain is getting worse to the point where you cannot walk or stand and your legs are numb...I'd say call your doctor (or whoever is on-call) or call 911 if your severe pain persists even when taking the skelaxin.Health Question & Answer

you bet. iam a long time suffer of pain in the lower back L456 s123 and my neck if thay wont to put a nife to you get more apinons DONT BE A GINNIE PIG LIKE ME i learnt the hard way and if you thuink of taken meds thay dont last push your self it will be hard i no hope you get better.Health Question & Answer

I too have had lower back problems that has seriously hurt so bad I couldnt walk for days just crawling to the bathroom hurt. It sounds like you may have torn a sideatic nerve.. If thats the case I would estimate it getting better with in the next 2days or so....? I would reccomend when your back gets better to keep your lower muscles strong use these exercises and also see a Dr to chck with x rays! For now get in a comfortable position and stay if you can!
