Why can't I talk properly?!

Question: Why can't I talk properly.?
It seems that I just have to repeat myself to everyone. I talk fast, I stutter sometimes (not as much as I used to though) I pronounce things weird. I just talk weird in general. Sometimes it feels like there is something blocking my next sentence so i just stay quiet. Is this some kind of mental defect.? English is my first language and I do not have any kind of mental problems.Health Question & Answer

Hey, dont be ashamed. It sounds like your brain is working to fast :) This is also called dyslexia. This is completely normal and can be fixed over time.Health Question & Answer

Believe it or not, I think you have a self-confidence issue. The reason I think this is the problem, is because I have a problem very similar to yours, and I figured out that it was my low-self esteem that hindered me from speaking up. You need to feel like what you're saying, is THE MOST important thing that the other person needs to hear at the moment. Talk like you have something extremely important to say, and try to make it like when you talk, people want to listen to you. As for the stutter and weird pronunciations, that comes with practice of talking in confidence. When using words that you know you have trouble with, try to slow it down a little and enunciate, eventually you'll build up speed and be able to say them normally again.

Hope that helped.Health Question & Answer

I've had the same problem for a couple years. I've seen a few people about it including a voice doctor but they weren't really any help and claimed it wasn't anything physical. One doctor said it was more than likely anxiety. I try talking to fast to get it out which muddles it up, and sometimes when I try to say something in a crowd I lock up so to say. However when I'm sitting at home taking to a well known friend I don't notice it at all. So I tend to agree with an anxiety problem since it sounds like you have the same troubles. I'm not a pill popper so I declined any medication for it, but if you feel it's affecting your life negatively enough you might want to consult a doctor about possible anxiety.Health Question & Answer

Well, you certainly ask your question correctly in writing, so you aren't stupid, so it can't be your intelligence. It must be the connection between your mind and your voice box somewhere. You think faster than you can produce sounds out of your voice box. I'd see a doctor about that, but avoid phsyco's, go to physical doctors, like a kids nose throat doc or something. It could be something from your childhood too, you didn't give many details. Your question was perfectly asked, so I know you are not retarded. Ron CouchHealth Question & Answer
