Question: Help! in pain w/ strep throat!!.?
I've had this since like last friday..the doctor give me like pills..but its not working..i'm contently coughing..like non stop..i drink a lot of warm water..but it doesn't help that much...if i inhale and exhale..i'll cough..what can i do.? like things i can do it @ home.. i can't even sleep..ugh..help if u can..thanks so muchHealth Question & Answer

Sounds like you may have an antibiotic not specific for strep. Did your doc to a throat culture.? That is the only sure way to tell which antibiotic the virus is susceptible to.
Do try to gargle with warm salt water . Can use about 1/2 tsp to 1/2 glass warm water. Be sure to gargle with it and spit it out. This will rinse the germs from the throat so you can spit them out. Can gargle with salt water about once every hr or so, as long as you're not swallowing the salt.
Your throat has had plenty of time to be well. Need to call the doc's office who prescribed the pills and tell him that your throat has yet to respond. Can ask him if he did a culture. It's obvious he guessed at which antibiotic your particular germs would respond to and perhaps based on others he has seen for the same thing. Obviously, yours isn't the same.
It also could be that your lungs are now affected.
Can take tylenol for the discomfort.

NyQuil will help. You can also make lemon jello. The normal way is to make it with a cup of boiling water, dissolve the jello, then add a cup of cold water. Just make it with the first cup. It will be hot, and it will coat your throat.Health Question & Answer
