Question: Have you ever had your tonsils removed.? Please tell me about your experience .... .?
I'm having the operation in February...and I'm a bit scared about it. Someone told me your throat hurts for about a month after...is this true.? also, how long does the operation gone on for.? How long were you in hospital for.? On a scale of 1-10, how bad is your throat after words.? If you have any other things to tell me about it I'll be extremely thankful !!

i got mine take out last year. i was in 6th grade then, and i lived!!^^. ok so here is the order of my experience.
i couldnt eat for 12 hrs b4 the operation
when i got to the hospital, i got dressed into the gown, and into the bed.i waited, talkin to my mum, and i got to pick the flavor of knockout gas. it took 20-30 minutes for the operation, and i woke up about 30 minutes later.i tried to talk, i was sore, but not that sore. like a 7 out of 10 on sorenesswe went to mcdonalds, and i got an ice cream.

when u get ur tonsils taken out, u cant go to work or school for a week.you should restrain urself from eating: hot foods, sharp, or crunchy, cause it may cause the disolvable stitches to open and ur throat will bleed and hurt.you cant do sports and big physcial activities for 2 weeks. you really should take the pain medication the doctor gives u cause it wil REALLY hurt at random times, but its probably not the worst pain ever..just soreness is all. if ur throat does start bleeding, go to the hospital imediatly, the stitches busted
try not to talk to much, it does kinda hurt.. i would get a whiteboard and write things on it. thats what i did. after about a week, u become back to normal. occasionaly, u will have to cough, or clear your throat, cause it makes your voice sound grumbly sometimes.

my friend got hers taken out and she was in a little bit of pain for about month. it was excruciating pain but it did hurt she said. the operation was short and she was sent home that day. it made her voice funny for a couple of months but she's back to normal nowHealth Question & Answer
