I am scared for my friend!

Question: I am scared for my friend
Answers:
I think it's very understandable that you are worried about your friend. This kind of treatment from a parent can be very detrimental and it sounds as though her mother is projecting negative thoughts onto her already, enough to indicate she is acting unhealthily.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a lot you can do.
Support your friend when she feels she's under too much pressure, but you can't change her mother... Health Question & Answer

She needs to prioritize- make a list of what she really wants to do, and what she wants to drop. Or her mom needs to smoke weed. But for real, she'll burn out if she doesn't just lighten her load and most importantly, do what SHE wants to do. It's amazing how much less stress you feel, even doing the same amount of stuff, if you truly love it. Not that she won't be stressed.

Oh, and as for mental health, I'm sure she's fine, but she could have a breakdown and freak out. Which obviously, should be avoided. Health Question & Answer

your friend doesnt have a mental health problem, her mother does. if your friend doesnt want to do so many activities, she needs to talk to her mother and tell her so. i doubt it will be that simple, but its the first step. her mother will either feel bad that she never realized, or continue forcing activites upon your friend to make up for her own shortcomings. the situation will come to a head on its own eventually, but that could be potentially very very bad. if your friend is too scared to talk, have her write her mother a note about all of it. you both have to be strong in this situation because you probably wont understand all of the things going on in her mother's head.
