Can diet cause heart palpitations and how can it be treated?

Question:

Answer:
I was getting heart palpitations for 2 years and could not work out why? Get it checked by your doctor as i did and they said it was just stress. I saw a natropath she gave me magnesium it worked within a few days. When i stop they come back so i just keep taking it! I hope this helps as i found it very uncomfortable & quite scary.
Yes, a diet high in sugar content can cause palps as well as excessive caffeine use in any form. However, before making an assumption that diet is the cause of palpitations, you should have a complete physical to rule out diabetes and/or more serious causes.

With both excessive sugar and caffeine, the cure would be to cut back on the consumption.

I always heard that any fluctuations (high or low) in blood sugar could
cause rapid heart rate. But that is just hearsay. I'm sure there
are sources of info on the Type II diabetes web sites.

Try smoothing out your eating...i.e. small snacks throughout the day rather than big meals. If it is related to type II, diabetes
then it can't hurt.
i was having palpitations for a long time and it was thoroughly investigated. They found a murmur and advised that though scary it was not harmful and i should give up caffiene and reduce my salt and sugar intake. it worked and i have been fine since. However i would suggest you have it properly checked to give you an easy mind about it. good luck!
