Im switching contraceptive pills and really need some advice?!
Question: Im switching contraceptive pills and really need some advice.?
ok so i was on dianette for over a year, finished that and had my 7 day break last week, including my period. on friday started on yasmin, took it for 2 days but gave me abdominal pain so stopped. went to docs yesturday and been given logynon. thought i would start it on the 1st day of my next period.
but
just been to the toilet and when i wiped, there was some period blood on the tissue.
so i am unsure whether this is my period.? it looks the same but i had my period last wk so surely there wouldnt be anything to 'period' now so soon.? or do i class this as my next period and start the new pills 2day i am not sure.?Health Question & Answer

This is not your period, it is breakthrough bleeding. Your body is confused because you have switched pills, and are now off of pills. You should give yourself at least a month to get your body back to equilibrium--never ever start a new pack when you are in the middle of what would have been the old pack.Health Question & Answer
I can't believe any doctor was rash enough to change your pill again after only 2 pills of your new one. The likelihood is that your pain, which if I remember from an earlier question, occurred on the first day of your new pill, was unrelated to your pill change.
If you have missed a pill again, by stopping your pill altogether this will cause another withdrawal bleed. also changing pill can have a similar effect. This is why GOOD doctors when changing pills recommend that the 7 day gap is missed at the pill change over to provide a seamless change. If this had been done in the first place you might not be in the confusing position you are now.
Again since the 2 pills used were Dianette, which many doctors have abandoned long ago due to its relatively high clot risk, and Yasmin, I assume that you have an acne issue. Only Dianette and Yasmin are felt to specifically improve this, rather than Logynon, which has no track record for acne management.Health Question & Answer

I agree with Dr Frank, I can't believe they switched you to a third variety of pill after just 2 days. The pill probably didn't cause your stomach ache.
And yes, the bleeding is normal - I switched from the combined to mini pill when I was 3 days into a new pack of combined (couldn't get to the clinic sooner) and even though I had JUST had a withdrawal bleed the week before, I had another one straight after.
Try not to worry. And do persevere with your new pill for at least 3 months before you try another variety - your body will be getting a bit confused!Health Question & Answer
