I pulled out my own IUD. Has anyone ever done this?!
Question: I pulled out my own IUD. Has anyone ever done this.?
I had it for 6 months and I was sick to death of the bleeding and discharge that accompanied it. I couldn't get an appointment with my doctor for 3 weeks because it was "non urgent," so I just pulled it out in the shower. It came out easily with no pain. I figured the doctor was only going to do the same thing anyway.
I was just wondering if anyone has done this.? Did you run into any problems because of it.? Health Question & Answer

I had a lot of pain associated with mine, and also couldn't get an appt. I just decided to pull it out one day. I haven't had any problems what so ever and the pain went with the device. If you're not ready to be pregnant again I would call your Dr. and tell them you need to get in immediately for birth control because it "fell out"! You are fertile again immediately if it was non hormonaL If it was Merena then you might be safe for a short time, but I sure wouldn't count on it! Be sure to use some other form of birth control, like condoms or something. Health Question & Answer
I've never personally done it.. but you should definatly get to the doctor to make sure you didn't perforate or tear anything important... you could definatly do some damage pulling one of those out.
I'd call back and say..."it fell out" which happens.. they'll bump up your appointment then. :p Health Question & Answer
