How much yogurt do I insert for a yeast infection?!

Question: I have a yeast infection and I've been reading about the whole yogurt in the vagina thing so I'm gonna go ahead and try it. But I just have a few questions that I can't seem to find on any websites...Well I've been reading about using either a tampon soaked in yogurt or a syringe (like a med dropper) I'm leaning towards the med dropper cuz I don't feel too comfortable leaving anything in my vagina when it's already irritated. well my question is exactly how much do I insert with the med dropper, I don't want to use too much and make things worse or too little and it doesn't work...

2nd question... I'm ttc and I might be preg so is it safe to use just in case I'm already pregnant?
Thanx in advance...I need relief quick!!! and my doctor can't get me in for a couple of weeks and I can't wait that long

Just enough to soak a tampon, this ACTUALLY works, i have done it before, so stop judging people!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! you EAT the yogurt with your MOUTH. Not insert it.

If you think you might be pregnant then you need to see a doctor. I would not be putting any type of yogurt in the vagina as this could accumulate more cells to end up infected.

You would fell very awkward telling your doctor what you put in and why ?

girl i hope your joking. do not now, or ever, insert yogert into your vag. you don't need to see a doctor for a yeast infection...hit up a walmart or walgreens, at 2 am if your embarassed and get some vagisil yeast infection inserts. they work great and the good ones get you cleared up in about 3 days. good luck.

I'm not sure whether it's safe if you're pregnant or not. But there was just an article in Cosmo a month or two ago about the tampon/yogurt thing. It said to use plain, unflavored yogurt. Lightly coat the tampon with the yogurt, insert it, and pull it out. Don't leave it sitting inside of you. Good luck, I hope it works if you try it!

don't do that!! if you are pregnant go to your doctor for the safe of your child!!!

talk to a dr about that.... i know its good to eat yogurt cuz of all the bacteria.... i would never put it in me...

Oh um good luck with that. I tried that when I was preggers... it didnt work too well. just get as much as you can in there and it will leak out... I just laid on my bed crying as the yogurt dripped out but finally it stopped and dryed and I went to sleep. There are some homeopathic yeast treatments but I think you can use monistat when you are preg... call the dr and ask...

If you may be pregnant then I would see a different Dr or call and see if you can use Monistat or something over the counter especially for treating a yeast infection.
I would not use yogurt...

I personally would not do the yogurt treatment, even though the bacteria cultures in yogurt probably would help. It's easy to get over the counter monostat and it works really well.

1. Go to the store and buy a small carton of "plain" yogurt -- doesn't matter whether it is name brand or store brand or is nonfat, lowfat or wholefat because you are NOT going to eat it. But make sure it is PLAIN with NO fruit, NO added sugar (milk sugar listed on the carton doesn't count of course), and NO flavoring in it of ANY type. You should make sure that whatever type yogurt you buy has "ACTIVE CULTURES" listed on its container.

2. While you're at the store pick up a box of tampons to go with the yogurt.

3. Pay for them. No one will look at you weird and no one will ask for any ID. ( this #3 is a humorous point only, so laugh .... but do pay!)

Now you're curious, aren't you?

But seriously now,

4. Go home and take one of the tampons and dip it into the yogurt and insert it into the vagina, allowing it to stay in place for AT LEAST FOR AN HOUR OR SO-- longer certainly won't hurt you. It is COOL and SOOTHING for one thing and will get some of the "good bacteria" right where it is needed the most since that is the main reason to use it -- to get the "GOOD" bacteria into where there is a build up of too much "bad" yeast type bacteria.

5. Continue this for once or twice a day for two or three days, or as long as needed, until the situation resolves itself.

6. Of course, REMEMBER TO KEEP THE CONTAINER OF "MEDICINAL" YOGURT SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER ONES IN YOUR FRIG THAT YOU MIGHT EAT (and of course throw out any leftovers). You can more than likely use homemade yogurts too.

just dab some plain yogurt enough so its covered

I have only used monostat. Sorry. Hope this helps anyway...

I had never heard of this before, but here's what I found

Hi! You seem bother by your vaginal prob. Here's what you should do. Boil sugarcane vinegar for 15 minutes (say a cup). After 15 minutes of rolling bubbles, set it aside to room temp. Get 2 tablespoons of that vinegar and mix it with 2 cups (200ml/cup) of distilled water (or u may boil water from the tap 4 15 minutes and let it cool to room temp). Use it to wash your private part every after you bee. You may also want to use it to douche your vaginal vault. It is safer than using yougart.
