Just being there for the person. Making them laugh, taking their mind of their illness. Helping them when they are too tired and never complaining about it.

i agree with the answer given by mydixiewrecked. i live with someone who is terminally ill, he just wants to live a normal life. so i dont wrap him in cotton wool & if there are any odd jobs that i know he is capable of without stretching his limits, ie change bulb in lamp, take things out of freezer, because i know that he would be upset if i didnt ask him. most of all BE STRONG not only for your friend but for yourself too, they dont like to see people get upset as it upsets them, take care xx
