When running, are ankle-weights harmful to the feet or legs?!

I frequently run and I have been thinking of using ankle-weights, but I'm not too sure if it is harmful or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Not a good idea. Alters your stride and may overtax other muscles leading to possibility of injuries. Happy running.

I've read that it's bad for your feet. The bones in your feet are delicate, and you'd be putting more weight and pressure on them. The article that I read (can't remember where, so I guess this isn't very helpful) said not to do it.
I don't think they would do any good, and they most likely might cause injury.
