Question: After having a prostate biopsy, my husband had some discomfort...?
I gave him 2-200ml.. of Advil; which I believe has aspirin , now I read that he should not take aspirin for 3 days.. Will this make things worse for him.. If so, what should he/I do now..Health Question & Answer

Advil is Ibuprofen not aspirin, it's in the same class as aspirin called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) but acts differently on the body.. It blocks the enzyme that makes prostaglandins which are responsible for pain, fever and inflammation.. the reason for not giving aspirin for 3 days post biopsy is that incisions were made during the procedure that require healing.. Aspirin promotes bleeding and is used by people as a stroke and heart attack preventer.. Do not take aspirin and Ibuprofen together..
Tell your husband to relax as best as possible and give himself time to recover..
