Since they found some staph bacteria in your urethra, it is technically not sterile.. However _nobody_ in this world has a perfectly sterile urethra.. Since urine is generally fairly sterile (assuming there is no kidney or bladder disease of course), the constant flushing of the urethra manages to remove a very great number of bugs, but some are REALLY good at sticking to its walls, so there are usually a few left..
Bacteria are everywhere inside and outside the body and your immune system spends a lot of time and energy controlling their levels.. Your one is a very common type and lives mainly in the nose and throat I believe, along with hundreds of other types..
Since you do not have signs of a UTI, it means either that this bacterium is incapable of causing disease (it's non-pathogenic to humans), or that your immune system is keeping it at a level where it can't cause the symptoms of a UTI.. Either way you have nothing to worry about..Health Question & Answer
