ive just undergone a hernia surgery.. i had inguinal hernia, and the surgery was lichtenstein..

anyway, is it normal for the surgeon to leave the sack of the hernia in the scrotum, but tied up.? to cut it would just lead to excessive bleeding..Health Question & Answer

The "sack of the hernia" is never left in the scrotum; that is the point of the operation.. If the hernia is left in the scrotum, it can strangulate and cause gangrene of the intestine..

You should talk to the doctor immediately, and possibly get another opinion, this doesn't seem right at all..Health Question & Answer

I had the inguinal hernia operation too, but this was many years ago.. The small intestine was certainly not left hanging.. It was replaced in my lower abdomen then stiched up.. I'm not sure what happened in your case.. Perhaps this is a new surgical procedure, but it does not sound right on the surface.. Have a talk with your physician about this..
