Out of the two, it would definately be a protein shake.. Have the creatine about an hour BEFORE you work out.. Itll give you hightened energy levels which will let you work out for longer without becoming fatigued..
As you work out, tiny micro-tears occor on the muscles your working.. After your workout, your muscles crave protein in order to repair them..
Oh, you should always try and take your skake with water as taking it with milk drawmatically slows the digestion of protein..

yes it is better to have them AFTER your workout because during your workout is when your muscles burn and work themselves, then afterwards is when your muscle "repairs" it with bigger muscle.. the extra protein you consume will help build even more muscle during the "repairing" stage..

I recommend you drop all of that.. It's not natural.. You will end up sh**ting out most of the protein shakes that you drink before or after workouts.. Your body won't accept it.. Try simple protein like eggs and meats like natural beef (NO McD's), chicken, and all fish.. Creatine isn't recommended either because it messes with your body.. (Brother is a physical therapist and body builder.. He advized me in all of this) Natural foods are the way to go.. But if you still use that stuff, then better to drink both 30 min before a workoutHealth Question & Answer
