Hi, I am also a vegetarian. At your age you don't need to take any protein shakes; wait until you're about 17-18 to start taking these supplements. It's important for you to eat a source of protein, vitamins most important for us vegetarian, vitamin B-12 and Iron.
I recommend you eat properly, as you may know, you need carbohydrates, protein and fats. (fats brake down following absorption and stored as triglycerides (most common type of fat in your body) and used later for energy).
Buy yourself some dumbells, some that are not to heavy and some reasonably heavy to build bigger muscles! You must warm up and stretch before exercising to prevent injuries. I suggest you do crunches, sit-ups, pull ups and some type of outdoor sport activity such as mountain bike riding, soccer, martial arts, etc. Remember to breathe.. breathing will increase oxygen in your muscles for a much better growth!
If you are concerned about your biceps, you should do them every other day, not more than 3 times a week! Something very important is that muscles grow during rest! what I mean by this is that when you do weights, you are pumping blood into the muscle you are working and when they grow is the time when these muscles are not being stressed or worked out, in other words, the day after you worked them out.
It is also important to work out other muscles from you body, if not, you can imagine how you would look with big biceps and skinny legs!

So work out all muscles from your body evenly and if you're working out biceps you need to work out an antagonist muscle, an opposing muscle, such as triceps or back.
Best wishes! :))Health Question & Answer

Vegetarian.? Then you must take protein shakes, but i dont advise that at your age cause you can stuff your liver when you hit around 18-20.
You can get very descent shape if you just keep consistent even if your diet is stuffed. I was so skinny at 13 but when i tensed my biceps big guys use to freak out at my defintion and i did was dumbell curls in my room. you can gain a good tennis ball but not much bulkiness.Health Question & Answer

Hi, I'm sorry that there are so many people that don't know anything about being vegetarian but decided to answer your question even though they have nothing to offer but garbage that they heard in the gym or on the street.

You definitely don't need meat or protein shakes to build muscle. I weighed 130 lbs when I became vegetarian at 18 and now I weigh 180 with visible abdominals.

Protein is found in almost every food that isn't junk food. You don't need to combine proteins but it helps to eat complete proteins or complement the protein that you eat often to aid in muscle growth.

If you don't have any free weights, you should get some ASAP. It is important that you know to give your muscles time to repair themselves
or you might not make progress. I recommend working each group of muscles about once a week and eating as much healthy high-protein food as you can.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help if you see proof that vegetarian people have the same potential as anyone else.

if you want to get that big in that short or a time you are going to needs some meat. you need beef (red meat) that has a lot of proein in it and that is what you need to get bigger. if you ain't going to eat meat you will need to get you some proein shakes. once you get that fixed do a lot of push ups i find that works better than going to the gym.Health Question & Answer

It's going to be EXTREEMLY hard to do if you are a vegitarian. Really hard. Don't work your body too much at 13 that's still too young to be trying to bulk up. And you aren't going to be able to do anything if you don't eat meat AND you don't go to the gym.

You need to start a rigorous exercise programme. I suggest finding a lot of rough lumber and use an unplugged belt sander (to save electricity and help prevent Global Warming) to smooth it to a fine finish. Start with 60 grit and work your way to 440 grit.Health Question & Answer
