Definitely seems like your suffering with depression. Getting lightheaded, with migraines could be a sign of an inner ear infections. You probably have anxiety as well. My mother has a lot of these symptoms and she is a manic depressant with anxiety problems. She also suffers with high blood pressure, which could be a cause of being lightheaded. Migraines can be genetic, so find out if your parents had problems. I would try alternative ways to handle this than prescription pills. They have made my mother kind of dingy:)Health Question & Answer

Actually, alot of those are symptoms of migraines which could be triggered by any number of things. I had most of your symptoms and they were actually caused by the migraines. When you go to the doctor, make sure you mention that you get them daily and they'll most likely be able to prescribe you something like Imitrex, which should make alot of your problems go away.Health Question & Answer

So many of these symptoms are nonspecific in that they could be caused by lots of things.

The bipolar bit certainly accounts for the energy, lethargy, & anxiety related symptoms. Bipolar disorder has much to do with norepinephrine/noradrenaline, which can worsen anxiety, cause mania, induce a feeling of not needing to sleep or not being tired, panic, etc. When norepinephrine is elevated for a prolonged time, it will cause the symptoms of depression, like lack of motivation, difficulty awakening, general lethargy, etc.

Many doctors would be tempted to attribute these to depression/anxiety & simply give you a prescription. However, you should request to have your hormones checked, as thyroid irregularities, testosterone deficiency, cortisol abnormalities, etc. can likewise cause these AND behavioral issues.

I would recommend my own Dr.- Dr. Mariano, as he is a neuroendocrinologist. He notes how endocrinological problems can affect behavior. For instance, excessively elevated adrenaline or cortisol (not the same adrenal hormone) can induce psychosis. Interestingly, researchers are evaluating using the birth control pill RU 486 as an antipsychotic because it reduces cortisol levels.
Anyhow, my doc is very thorough, evaluating endocrine & other physiological factors before simply dispensing antianxiety or antidepressant medication. I mention this because I have had similar problems to what you describe & was written off by doctors for quite some time before seeing Mariano & treating hormone (thyroid) imbalance.Health Question & Answer
