Question: I have a "loss of energy" that has persisted for about 7 weeks now. Any ideas as to why.?
I am a healthy 58 year old man. Around the first of September 2008, I noticed a reduction in my energy level. Nothing else has changed, just the loss of energy. I sleep well, eat right, no appreciable depression issues...I'm just "weak", and have a loss of stamina. I take a Stresstab multivitamin daily and get exercise. Any ideas.?.?Health Question & Answer

It could be "old age" (you're not really that old, but you're not 18 any more!) and it's just caught up with you now.

It could be some kind of chronic fatigue syndrome, especially if you've had a chest infection in the past couple of months.

It could be glandular fever (mono).

Over/under active thyroid.

Depression (I know you said you don't feel it, but it's possible)

Other than that, I have nothing! :)Health Question & Answer

Loss of testosterone perhaps.? It could happen at any age...I had problems with it, at a much earlier age: lack of energy, somewhat depressed, feeling weak, no sex drive....

There are natural ways to boost your levels up...the guide on http://www.mistermanpower.net/libido-enh... has worked wonders to boost my testosterone levels up, and therefore my energy levels, mood, sex drive, etc.

Hey Charlie,
I know exactly what you mean. As we age, our metabolic rate decreases, leaving us feeling tired. You don't mention your stress level, but this is what happened to me. My job is very stressful, wherein I train a big roomful of people on how to use systems for HR, Payroll, etc. I didn't realize how stressful things were getting until I noticed that when I finally got home from the office, I was irrationally tired. So tired, that I couldn't really do much of anything. Stress is a real killer. It can affect a very large portion of your body. Exercise has really made a difference in my life. Not running, but actually walking a couple of miles every day. I eventually got over that tired feeling (I am very close to your age) and now look forward to my walks everyday. The more you exercise, the better off you are. However, one of the answers you received mentioned thyroid. I would have this checked by your doctor, anyway. Simple blood-tests will show this. If you are still experiencing lack of energy, you may be suffering from a form of depression. Even though you say you aren't, you could be, deep inside, feeling anxiety in some for or another. Be good to yourself and visit your doctor for a good check-up. Just because you're feeling good, doesn't mean you should shirk your health! Take care, buddy!Health Question & Answer

Where do you live.? Have you noticed this before around September.?

Our circadian cycles can get freaky when the weather changes.

Try exercising a little but each day. As you age your testosterone naturally drops and a little exercise may be all you need to get it back where it needs to be.

All this being said, go to a doctor and ask. S/he will be able to help :)Health Question & Answer

Cancer.? My friend Cameron who was a realy realy good friend died of Cancer when we were both 12,before that,he didnt have much stamina,we'd always play video games, and he would always take naps and stuff. But thats a big jump. If your 58 than your old enough to go into your doctor or set up an appointment, and tell him the deal.Health Question & Answer

Suggestion, go see your physician and have a thorough physical. This could be many things or it could be maturing.

You will not know without blood tests etc., by your Physician.Health Question & Answer
