Should circumcision be outlawed?!

Question: Should circumcision be outlawed.?
We as a society view mutilation of the female genitalia by muslim extremists and tribal cultures to be horrific and barbaric, yet we do not bat an eye at circumcision, this is a barbaric practice. We should start calling it what it really is, male genital mutilation. For religious purposes one should have the choice for this body modification after they reach the legal age of consent, but doing it to a child who has no say in the matter is horrific and barbaric. That child, when grown, will never know what sex is really suppose to feel like.Health Question & Answer

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was circumcised at birth and they took way too much off. This caused REALLY painful erections. I had to take pills to halt the erection to allow for tissue expansion to be done. This halted my growth don there. I had to take more pills to restart my puberty. The damage was done though. I have gained most of what I would have grown to, but I am small there as a result. The psychological scars are with me to this day.
I imagine being 15 and in the locker room. Other boys see your penis and it looks like it belongs on a 10 year old. I had to deal with this for years. I eventually filled out better, but my confidence was killed and my relationships suffered. To this day when I'm really erect, it is painful.
I was permanently damaged because no one cared about what I thought because I was too small to fight back.Health Question & Answer

I concur. Anyone who has seen circumcision performed on infants knows that it interrupts the natural bonding process with the mother for quite some time, as well as causing the male to abstain from consuming breast milk at the time when it is most beneficial. Oh, & that on top of the physical pain, emotional distress, increased heart rate, & screaming of the infant.

To nyse who said that fgm is equivalent to male glansectomy, in a sense, male circumcision does effect glansectomy in sensation. How so.? By desensitizing the glans via constant exposure, which inevitably causes keratinization. The loss of sensation varies among men. So it is not simply the loss of pleasure from the removal of the foreskin. Health Question & Answer

I think it should be, it should not be done to babies there is no reason that should allow somebody to remove part of somebody else's genitals for no reason. It's only very rarely that it needs to be done to fix a medical problem. It shouldn't be done for tradition, culture, hygiene or other things. It's not necessary and it's also unfair how it's prohibited for girls but not boys.

I'm sorry but it still is a hygiene issue and because many times men do not discuss the proper way to clean they do get a little cheesy. It should be your parents deciduous (that includes religious decision) because they birthed you and from the second you are born until you are 18 they hold the reigns in your life (what school you go to, what type of food you eat,and if you are circumcised or not)Health Question & Answer

three cheers for this man. thank god people are coming to understand that this practise is wrong and pointless in fact it is actually harmful muslims circumcise for cleanliness which we now know circumcision is not. the foreskin is not a mistake of nature it is circumcision which is the mistake of man in failing to understand the complexity of natureHealth Question & Answer

It shouldn't be "outlawed" because there are some religions where it is an important ritual, and it is sometimes necessary to cure medical problems, although that is rare. Aside from religious or medical requirements though, I agree it is a largely unnecessary and barbaric procedure.Health Question & Answer

I agree with what you said
when that young they have no say, and male genital mutilation is meant to protect men from diseases. Can't you just wait until they're 13 and can make their own choice; not many boys have diseases at that age, I'm sureHealth Question & Answer

You are 100% right. It should be up to the individual when he reaches legal age, unless, of course, a certified doctor insists that it be performed for health reasons.Health Question & Answer

I think it should be for infants.
You can sue your doctor for it if you want. Get a lawyer and ask him about it.
There aer many guys that have sued for that reason.

I'm glad I was circumcised, it's a lot more pleasurable, and I tend to see problems with people who didn't. Either it hurts to masterbate, or the skin is really sore there.Health Question & Answer

Haven't you ever thought circumcision is the culture of different tribes.Health Question & Answer

Yes, it should be outlawed, as female circumcision of minors is illegal.

It is a violation of the basic human right to a whole and intact body.

Male genital mutilation of infants is assault, infant sexual abuse, and infant mutilation.

Female circumcision is mutilation, and it doesn't always involve removing the clitoris, sometimes just the clitoral hood--which is analagous with the male foreskin. It is illegal to even take a pin and prick a female minor's genitals!!!

Males aren't afforded equal protection under the law. This is sexist in the extreme, and it is unconstitutional.

And yes, you can sue the doctor/hospital who performed the mutilation on you up to the age of 18-21 in some states. We do need more lawsuits to teach the medical profession to leave our genitals alone. So many of them belong to the religions that try to impose this practice on others, and it's time to put a stop to it.

I'm restoring my foreskin, and have vastly increased sensitivity and orgasmic intensity, and if more men were aware of what had actually been stolen from them by the mutilation, it would definitely be illegal.

As far as the few religions that practice this atrocity on infants, let them go to the countries that have the theocratic governments to do the dirty deed to their own helpless male infants---they've tried to spread it here for too long on others. If they would have kept it to themselves, there wouldn't have been such a problem.Health Question & Answer

Come off it. Female mutilation is the equivalent to removing the male's
glans. Not just a part of the foreskin. It would be an horrific experience to undergo male circumcision as a young man and have to endure the pain and agony every time an unwanted arousal happened. I was treated as a baby and I have never had a regret. Sex is absolutely marvelous. but honestly, I am neither for or against. But I must admit to preferring the way I am.Health Question & Answer

NO That is ridiculous, America is not controlled by religion, Plus i LOVE being Circumcised. UnCut ones are very ugly.Health Question & Answer
