How do you keep from being slower when you get old?!


Question: How do you keep from being slower when you get old.?
I seen this old dude, went to get his mail and It took him 5 years to get to his mailbox....Then I said to myself, I'll never be that slow. So what should I do so I don't move at a snails pace when I get older.? Oh yea I workout and play sports, so do I have anything to worry about.?Health Question & Answer

I'm 54, and right now I move rather slowly: probably irritating slowly for you.

I'm in the middle of having both knees replaced. If you've never had that done, it will give you a whole, new working definition of "pain" and while you're in rehab for this, you will NOT be moving quickly.

Of course, now -- a year from now, I'm told my knees will be in good enough condition so that we can celebrate our 20th anniversary in Europe where I plan to climb the Alps.

He might be in the process of having (or recovering from) having knees replaced, or a hip replacement (not fun, either), or he could have a prosthesis, especially if he's diabetic and has lost a foot or a leg.

Here's another thing: God willing, you will age too, and eventually you'll reach middle age and then old age. I realize us "older folks" all had a duty to die off at 30 so as not to interfere with the plans of younger people; but alas, when I was in my 30s I was concertizing in Europe and just didn't feel the need to die. You, too, will be one of us and a little bit of empathy now will go a long, LONG way when you're our age.

well the thing is you have to keep in mind is when ppl get older they change , or it could eb due to a stroke etc or becuase they didn't eat right when they were younger etc etc etc it catches up or sometimes its just gentic. The best thing u can do is jsut stay active in a healthy range and perhaps u won't be so weak and slow in old age as some ppl may become but there really is no way of knowing for sure.
