It sounds like the painkillers are putting your bladder to sleep. I had 2 separate operation where they had to give me pain medication afterword's and had the same problem. It got so bad that they had to catheterize me so I could pee. Not pleasant. Let your doctor know this and he might cut your dosage of pain medication. also you might want to sit on the toilet if it takes that long to pee. Sometimes sitting can help you relax. What ever you do try not to push, you do not want to rupture something. This might sound gross, but if it is that bad try sitting in the bathtub with warm water and relaxing so you can pee. One thing you might want to try is to let some time lapse between doses of pain medication. If you take 1 pill every 4 hours try to wait until you feel you need the medication instead of taking it on time. Most pain medications are written as PRN {it says this on the prescription} this means take as needed for pain. Only do this with the pain medications not the antibiotics. All antibiotics must be taken on schedule and for the full duration of the supply. In other words if you are given a 7 day supply of pills and you feel much better after 5 or 6 days still take the antibiotics until you have taken them all. I realy wouldn't worry too much but I would also suggest that you inform your physician about your problem. He has a better understanding of your case and history. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Peace. Health Question & Answer
Drink more water. Maybe the anti biotics are causing your urine to be 'thicker' than usual.
And maybe ask your doctor if there are any side effects that the medication can cause.? Or tell him about your problem. If he has no clue, i suggest going to a urologist. It must suck being unable to pee.Health Question & Answer

Look at the side effects of the painkillers and antibiotics that you're on. It's possible that one of them is difficulty urinating. I'd call my doctor and see if there's something that can be done. Health Question & Answer
