Question: Does lifting weights stunt your growht.?
am 16 years old andbeen lifting for like 2 years and am 5,4Health Question & Answer

Answers:
LIFTING WEIGHTS DO THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE:
weightlifting increases your hormone levels which can actually promote better growing so you can actually grow more
if you're using ridiculously amounts of heavy weights like squatting 950lbs then yeah your growth plates will damage

But if you're using controlled weights that are you're able to handle
*lets say you can curl 30lbs for 10-14 reps easily and 50lbs barely 2-4 reps thats way too much weight so your find the avg weight for you and you should be fine something you can do 8-10reps with minimum restriction*

I've personally been bodybuilding for many years and I've heard all the rumors and you don't need to be worried about stunting your growth if you're being sensible about it.
Health Question & Answer

yes it does. because you're building muscles by working out, you give your bones less room to grow. and because this happens, you bones dont grow as much as they could. if you can, you should avoid doing too much excercise or you're going to end up having a growth problem if that was what you were worried about.Health Question & Answer

Yes, I've heard that lifting weights stunts your growth. You have to stretch a lot and make sure to do your cardio. Don't lift too much, you don't want to be one of those freaky short guys with gigantic muscles... it looks gross... I don't know any girls that like that. Just be yourself!Health Question & Answer

The only thing that stunts your growth is being vertically challenged...
in other words..being short.

Have a good day short stop :)Health Question & Answer
