Blood pressure and beats per minute (bpm)?!

Question: Blood pressure and beats per minute (bpm).?
I checked my blood pressure with my home monitor and it said it was 172/94. It also said my BPM was 91. Since the blood pressure is high, wouldn't my beats per minute also be high.? Are they even related.? If so, how.? What does the number 172/94.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
A high blood pressure causes the heart to pump harder. This can also increase the heart rate but not always.

The average heart rate is 60-100 bpm

The systolic pressure is the pressure on the artery wall when the heart is contracting. (top number)
The diastolic pressure is the pressure on the artery wall when the heart is relaxed or not contracting. (bottom number)

A higher lower number is more of a concern than a high top number. However, there is concern with a high systolic reading. The normal BP is 120/80 on average.

I suggest that you see a doctor to be treated. Even with a diastolic at 90 most doctors will still treat with medication and diet.Health Question & Answer

The systolic is the top number and the bottom is the diastolic. The blood pressure is high but what were you doing before you took it.? If you were resting then it is high. Your monitor could be off as well.
Check it again or have someone else take it for you.
Your pulse is high too. The average pulse is around 72. If you are in good shape it will be lower.
Consider having a check-up soon. Health Question & Answer
