I first grew a beard in 1972 in Antarctica. I kept it until 1975. Then in 1976 I started growing one again and only shaved it off on New Year's Eve of 1984 (bunch of guys I was stationed with were at my house and those that had beards shaved theirs off, too) when the U.S. Navy stopped allowing beards. Then in 1985, November (retired from the USN), I started growing it back and have had one since.
One of the black guys at work asked if my barber trims it for me and was surprised when I told him I do it myself. I keep it trimmed (shave below the jaw line) and shaped.Health Question & Answer

I shaved mine to help get a job. UPS said that the most they would allow was a mustache so I figured that is PROBABLY what everyone else wants too but they won't mention it for fear of charges of prejudice etc.
I couldn't grow a decent beard and mustache until I hit about 45 so hang in there ... it will work eventually. It's better than having 5 o'clock shadow when you're 19. IMHO.

I don't have to worry about a beard because my facial hair is sparse, but i HATE having facial hair. I wish it didn't grow out at all. I hate shaving my face. If I could afford laser hair removal, I would do it.Health Question & Answer
